What
are Dental Implants?
Dental
Implants are today's best alternative to natural teeth. They
are tooth replacements that allow you to function more normally
than conventional dentures and bridges. They can be the foundation
for greatly improved smiles and overall facial appearance.
Are
Dental Implants "Approved"?
Absolutely.
The developmental phase of dental implantology ended more
than two decades ago. Technology is always being improved,
but research studies have clearly established the effectiveness
of dental implants. Our Omni Tight Dental Implants are manufactured
from safe, biocompatible materials. All implant devices are
regulated by agencies of the federal government.
What
can implants do for me?
Dental
implants can provide a level of self confidence that dentures,
bridges and conventional kinds of tooth replacement can not.
Eating, smiling and speaking are as normal as with natural
teeth. The embarrassment, irritation, and self-consciousness
often experienced by people who wear dentures or who have
suffered through older methods of tooth replacement are overcome
with the confidence of permanently anchored dental implants.
Today, for hundreds of thousands of people around the world,
dental implants are a new-found source of security and confidence
in family, social and business activities.
Is
there an age limit?
Dental
implants have been found to be beneficial for children, adults,
and the elderly. The procedure is often the foundation for
substantially improved function and esthetics in a variety
of dental situations. Whether for a single missing tooth or
for replacement of all of a patient's teeth, dental implants
are now recognized as standard treatment for a full range
of problems.
- Enhancement
of appearance
- Self-confidence
- Restoration
of normal eating
- Restoration
of normal speaking
- Improved
denture retention
Because
of the growing public awareness that implants can improve
overall health and well-being, at any age, the use of dental
implants has tripled since 1986. The availability of extensive
data on the high rate of long-term success of these procedures
has also added to increased use of implants for more and more
people of every age.
Why
should I consider Basic Dental Implants?
Don't
let our name give you the wrong impression. Basic, or Bio-Anatomic
System Implant Company, does not produce some generic, low-budget
implant. By drawing on the research and lessons learned from
over twenty-five years of implant placement, we were able
to improve upon the procedure and implant design to make it
more compatible with the general dentist. Since its inception,
the system has gone through continual improvement, distilling
the implant and componentry to their most basic and fundamental
level.
In
addition to the benefits of implants, Basic Dental Implant offers
the patient some unique benefits:
- Basic Dental Implants are placed by your general dentist
so there is usually no need to see a specialist.
- Basic Dental Implants are usually less expensive than other systems.
- Other implants are placed by "laying a flap"
which is considerably more traumatic and uncomfortable than
the Basic procedure which allows the dentist to place the
implant without laying a flap in most cases.
- Other systems require two surgeries, one to place and
one to uncover the implant. Basic Implants are placed in
a single-stage procedure.
What is the actual procedure like?
Implants
are artificial tooth roots that are anchored into the jaw
bone. After an initial period of healing, they are used to
secure "teeth." The entire procedure from evaluation
to completion will usually take anywhere from 4-8 months.
Every case is different and you should ask your dentist and
staff members exactly what to expect. In the vast majority
of cases, all the work is done in your general dentist's office.
Your dentist should direct how you can best be treated.
